The Patapsco Female Institute

Founded in 1837and completed in 1839, this structure was used as an elegant finishing school for women. It is rumored that a young girl named Annie was sent to this school against her will. She hated the school and resented her parents sending her there. Her very first winter there, she contracted pneumonia and died. Her ghost is said to be at the institute to this day. An apparition of a little girl is seen walking down the front stairs and in the upstairs windows. Also screams have been heard at this location. DCMAG investigated the PFI in November of 2007. We did record some EVP's at this location but otherwise was fairly quiet.
